When I first got my dogs I wasted a lot of money on buying beds that looked good and puffy, but they soon wore out and went as flat as a pancake, it was also a problem finding a bed that was a good size for my hounds to stretch out on.
I decided to make my own as I knew exactly what I was looking for, hence I have come up with the following.
The beds that I have made so far are 36 inches x 48 inches, by a lovely 5 inches deep which I find a good size, but I am more than happy to make beds any size or shape. eg to fit in car boots or an alcove or if you just want something a little different! ( if it is an unusual shape I will simply need a paper template) P.O.A.
Watch out for some unusual bespoke beds!!
My beds are filled with heavy duty crumb foam, especially for the larger dog and just need a shake now and again to restore the loft.
No zips or fiddly fastenings, all our beds close with strong 2-inch wide hook and pile.
At the moment I have 2 different types of covers, either Cordura, which is a really wonderful durable, waterproof fabric, it is a bit like canvas, so it is still comfortable to sit on, just sponge it down and let it air dry. I also make some super faux suede covers, which are really hard wearing, simple to wash and dry, and just keep looking like new ( warm wash, spin and air dry) Wash dog bed covers separate and don’t forget to fasten the hook and pile together. I have a lovely selection of colours and will be adding to this as time goes on.
Both of my hounds have been laying on these beds for several years, so they have really been tried and tested!
These beds weigh approx 6 kilos.
Please bear in mind that if your dog is destructive, then no bed however hardy can withstand a dog that is determined to wreck it, so throwaway old blankets or similar would be better until your dog decides to respect his bed.
For packaging purpose, these beds will be somewhat flattened and packed tight, so when you receive them please unpack them, give them a good shake and give them approx 24 hours to bounce back into shape.
